B.Sc. Medical Microbiology is an undergraduate program that deals with the study of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Medical Microbiology plays an integral role in understanding the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases.
The eligibility criteria to pursue B.Sc. Medical Microbiology is completion of 10+2 in the science stream with Biology as the main subject, from a recognized board or university with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. Some universities may also conduct an entrance examination to get admission.
During the program, students will study different courses such as Medical Microbiology, Microbial Genetics, Industrial Microbiology, Immunology, Medical Virology, Molecular Biology and other specialized medical courses. The curriculum emphasizes laboratory experiments and intensive practical training, which help students to develop necessary hands-on skills.
On completion of the program, graduates can work in various sectors such as in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical industries or government sectors. Graduates can also work in the research & development laboratories, hospitals and healthcare centers, various public and private health organizations, and many more other related fields.
Further, the graduates could pursue higher studies in the form of an M.Sc. Microbiology program, PhD program, or other related courses.
