B.Sc. Biotechnology is an undergraduate program that focuses on modern molecular and cellular techniques to advance medical, agricultural, and industrial development. Biotechnology offers interdisciplinary knowledge and techniques that help scientists to manipulate, modify, and develop organisms to introduce new products and services.
The eligibility criteria to pursue B.Sc. Biotechnology is completion of 10+2 in the science stream with Biology as one of the main subjects from a recognized board or university with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. Some universities may also conduct an entrance examination to get admission.
During the program, students will study different aspects of biotechnology such as Cell Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetic Engineering, Microbiology, Bioprocess Engineering, and Bioinformatics. The curriculum emphasizes on practical and experimental training, which helps students to learn by conducting lab experiments and research projects.
On completion of the program, graduates can work in various industries such as Biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, research laboratories, Biotech product development companies, clinics, hospitals ,and various other sectors.
Graduates may also pursue higher studies such as M.Sc. Biotechnology or related fields, an MBA in Biotechnology or PhD program. Pursuing higher studies allows students to gain more advanced and specialized knowledge and skills to develop their career and research interests.
