The colleges are known as Doon (P.G.) College of Agriculture Science and Technology (DCAST); Doon (P.G.) Paramedical College and Hospital (DPMC&H): Doon Valley College of Education (DVCE) and Doon (P.G.) College of Agriculture and Allied Sciences (DCAAS) are under the two educational societies by the name of Ch. Charan Singh Memorial Educational Society and Maharani Lakshmi Bai Memorial Educational Society.

The Ch. Charan Singh Memorial Educational Society, was established in 1987 in tribute to the esteemed Ch. Charan Singh. Their main aim is to enhance the employability of the youth in Uttarakhand and across the nation through education, research, and training. The relentless efforts and dedication of Ch. Charan Singh serves as a significant source of inspiration, propelling our societies forward with renewed vigor.

Ch. Charan Singh was born on December 23, 1902, in the small village of Nurpur which is located in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, into a family of farmers. He assumed the role of Home Minister of India within the cabinet of Shri Morarji Desai on March 24, 1977. In 1979, he succeeded Shri Morarji Desai as the Prime Minister of India, serving in this capacity until January 1980. Renowned as a philosopher, author, and principled politician, he was also a notable freedom fighter & an exceptional orator. Among his significant contributions is the acclaimed book, "Nightmare of Indian Economy."
